Do you have Christmas carols going through your head constantly at this time of year? I know I do! I love the holiday season – the decorations, the food, the music, the food, spending time with family, the food…
All of the students have been working hard on their Wild West practice incentive jobs for the last 13 weeks, so I wanted to give them each something as a small reward. It occurred to me that I spend several minutes each lesson flipping through books to find the current assignment. Thought to self: “Why don’t we have bookmarks in these books already?!” I experimented with Post-It flags, but the flags are tiny, and several are decorating the floor in the studio. They were also getting more wrinkled and torn as each week of the term went by… 🙂
So I headed into my craft room to devise a bookmark that would stay put (even when the book was open), and, almost most importantly, I could mass-produce for a studio of 20+ students who each have an average of 3 music books.
You can see the results of my crafting frenzy below. Hopefully these will hold up (yes, I ran them through my precious laminator!) and if the kids choose not to use the bookmarks for their music books, maybe they’ll find a use for them in other books they are reading.
Merry Christmas and Happy New Year to everyone! Thank you for another wonderful year teaching your children.
